形态特征
背甲较同属其他种更拱，呈暗褐色，盾片接缝处有深色线。头部红色斑纹较红颊动胸龟少，有时仅为点缀。腹甲狭长，具可移动铰链。成体最大SCL约17 cm。
生态习性
栖息于太平洋沿岸的临时性水塘、溪流和灌溉渠道，耐高温。雨季繁殖，雌龟在沙质河岸产卵。食性与红颊动胸龟相似，但更倾向捕食蝌蚪和蛙类。
主要威胁与保护
分布区正经历农业开发和水污染，局部种群数量下降。由于长期被误认，保护历史匮乏，亟需基础生态学研究。
自然分布与保护状态
分布于墨西哥太平洋沿岸，从锡那罗亚州至恰帕斯州，包括内陆水域。IUCN尚未单独评估，但种群因栖息地破坏可能面临威胁。
